A Few of My Ruined Words

March 22, 2020

Happy Sunday!

Today’s post is going to be super short,  because SOMEONE has a vlog to edit. *mumbles something about procrastination*

As an everyday fangirl, I frequently find that “normal” words that come up in conversation can have double meanings for me. However, most people don’t understand exactly why I want to slug the wall when I hear them talking about legacies, or why mentioning honor will make me smirk.

I call these words with double meanings my “ruined words” because the chances of me seeing them normally again are ruined. XD And today, we’re going through a few of them, dictionary-style. So this is basically my own personal dictionary. You’re welcome. ;)

noun
: not sold by headlines, but by newsies
(see papes)

Brooklyn

Well, I think that’s all for now. XD If you have any “ruined words” of your own, comment them down below - I’d love to hear them!

And hopefully, I’ll see you Wednesday, on my blogoversary! (If this stupid video will get edited - it’s SO LONG, guys . . .)

  1. NICOLE I LOVE THIS SO MUCH. IT'S SO RELATABLE. Thanks for making me want to cry from the get-go with "three thousand", though. *whimpers*

I just started laughing when I saw the word "potatoes". XD

Oh, there are SO many words that have been ruined for me. "Focus", because of Agent Carter. "Balance", because of stupid Thanos. And, well, a million others that I can't think of right now. But the struggle is real. xD

  3. Oh my word, I love this post sooooooooo much! This is GOLD. And I relate SO hard! Fandoms have ruined me of, like, everything. I can barely do or hear or see ANYTHING without it reminding my of a fandom. I'm a mess. XD

I shamefully didn't get all of these references, but I DEFINITELY related to a lot of them. Like three thousand (*SOBS FOR ETERNITY*) and "HONORRRRR!" Ahem. And OF COURSE PO-TAY-TOES. Classic.

This was so great, Nicole! XD

      Thank you, Christine! ;)

  4. Many of these are ruined words for me, too! It's funny because any time my family eats potatoes my sister, mom, and I all yell, "PO-TAY-TOES!" where everyone else is very confused. XD

  11. "Is here" being the Brooklyn entry has set me cackling. As has "why is it always gone?" for rum. Ha.
I have ruined words toooo! Honestly, whenever I meet someone whose first thought upon hearing "ring" isn't "my precious," I have to wonder, like, are they human? And let's see, a few of mine:

    Ponies
    1. all needed for the war

    Fascinating
    1. terrifying, ominous, or otherwise likely to cause panic on the bridge and death of at least one redshirt
    2. a word that may be used to describe anything related to that foreign and peculiar object known as an Emotion

    Amnesty
    1. The reason I can't shoot you right now
    2. The reason I canNOT rob that bank
    3. No seriously I can't rob the bank
    4. YOU ROBBED THE BANK YOURSELF AND NOW YOU'RE BLAMING IT ON ME??? DO YOU UNDERSTAND HOW HARD THIS IS GOING TO BE TO FIX?

....I had better stop bc I honestly feel like I could go on forever. XD Ruined words are way too fun.

  14. OKAY, NICOLE THIS IS GREAT. Marvel, Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc. Etc.
Wow. I have some ruined words, too. Honestly, mostly I just quote things and people are like, "What?" And I'm like, "It's from a show."
    Or something like that.

Hehe, that is also a great way of going about things. Quoting fandoms and not having people understand can be just amazing. XD

I like this idea for a post quite a bit. It's very unique. My ruined word would be someone saying their leg is broken...
